__________________________________________________________________________
Since it’s
inception in
1958, the
California
Municipal
Treasurer’s
Association
(CMTA) has
encouraged
education
through meetings
and workshops to
maintain and
enhance the high
level of
professional
competence for
treasurers and
investment
officials. The
Board of
Directors and
committee chairs
are dedicated to
offering members
the opportunity
of learning new
and efficient
methods to more
effectively
fulfill their
responsibilities
and to be made
aware of the
constantly
shifting
patterns of
governmental
organization and
public
administration.
In addition to
learning
opportunities at
the annual CMTA
conference, two
workshops are
held each year.
One is intended
to provide basic
information, the
other deals with
more advanced
topics. These
workshops cover
a wide range of
items including
but not limited
to: investments,
cash management,
bond sales,
management
skills,
communications,
and legislation.
Opportunities
are also offered
in conjunction
with monthly or
quarterly
division
meetings held
throughout the
State.
The CMTA
Certification
Program is
described more
fully under
Certification.
In addition, the
CMTA education
committee has
been very active
in securing the
best possible
educational
opportunities in
the nation.
Under their
leadership CMTA
workshops have
been approved by
the MTA US &
Canada for
pre-approved MTA
certification
points.
